Custom Refinishing of Vintage Hardwood Floors

Refined Living in Moorestown at its best: A townhome transformation rooted in craftsmanship!

Our clients came home to Moorestown. After raising their family here, they downsized into a charming townhome. It was the perfect location. And close our client’s work at Penn. It’s a great location, halfway between their daughters in Central Jersey and Maryland. And it’s not far from their shore home in Ocean City.

They wanted this home to reflect their new lifestyle—comfortable, stylish, and ideal for entertaining. So they gutted the space with no stone unturned.

The Work: A Full Home Refresh.

Originally referred by Claudia Affannato and Specialty Painter Scott D’Antonnio, our team worked to bring their vision to life! With a steady hand, they led the project capably and successfully. Once again, they brought in their team of talented subcontractors to work magic. This time, transforming this chopped-up home into ‘Moorestown Living’ at its best!

Their renovation included major changes:

  • Removed a second-floor apartment to create a master suite
  • Opened walls for an airy, open-concept layout (entry and kitchen)
  • Updated both bathrooms and the kitchen
  • Added an upstairs office, guest room, and laundry
  • Installed built-in cabinetry and a beverage center
  • Added wood custom flush-mount HVAC vents

With a focal point being the hardwood floors, every attention to detail was required. And that’s where we came in.

Our Part: Wood Floor Restoration Craftsmanship at Work.

First and foremost, our goal was to preserve the original hardwoods. We wanted to enhance them, not replace them. With that in mind, upstairs, we started by removing the carpet and vinyl. Underneath, we uncovered beautiful vintage hardwood. Their transformation spared no expense and denied no detail.

Upstairs, we repaired boards near an old sliding door and added a custom flush vent. Importantly, we prepared stain samples for the stain selection. They took their time with their choice. Leaving it overnight allowed them time to see the ‘persuasion’ that different lighting had on the color. They confidently chose a golden oak stain (with no regret).

Choosing the stain color, golden oak, brought warmth and character. The natural grain shone through.

Then we sanded everything extra smooth and soft (like a baby’s cheek)! Sue was thrilled. By this time, she had become impressed with our craftsmanship. She said she had refinished floors in four previous homes. But she had never seen such care and attention to detail!

Restoring the Staircase.

We removed the worn carpet. Underneath, we found hardwood treads. We refinished them and painted the risers. Likewise, we revitalized the railing, incorporating all elements together. A simple presentation, when done, the look was fresh and classic. And, it tied the two floors together beautifully.

Blending Old with New.

The first floor needed seamless transitions. Walls had been removed in the entry and kitchen. We wove in new boards with expert precision, erasing any hint or sign that the walls had ever been there. The repairs blended beautifully with the original flooring.

We added another custom vent near the back door. Then we sanded and stained the remaining floors. Everything was smooth and rich in tone. The finish brought the space to life.

A Home That Reflects Its Owners.

With the floors complete, the home felt whole. Their furniture and design choices elevated the look even more. Sue and Bruce now have the perfect space to host friends and family. The wood floors are a showpiece. Sue said she couldn’t wait to show them off.

Our Results: Dazzling Hardwood Floors, Well Worth the Wait!

This project took longer than expected. But it was worth it. The floors turned out better than they imagined. Sue said again—she’d never seen this level of craftsmanship. Her words and generous tip meant everything to our team.

Now rekindling with friends and neighbors, she’s spreading the word, showcasing her floors, and sharing her delight one Moorestown gathering at a time!
